Elvis Presley's life from breakthrough to superstar

The life and music of Elvis Presley(Austin Butler). We follow this through the eyes of his mysterious and shadowy manager Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). Both men maintained a close but complicated relationship. The story shows the special dynamic between the two during a period of more than 20 years, from Presley's breakthrough to his status as an unprecedented superstar. That relationship took place against the backdrop of the changing cultural landscape and the loss of innocence in America from the late 1950s onwards. Of course, there is also a lot of attention for one of the most influential people in the life of Elvis: Priscilla Presley(Olivia DeJonge).
Director Baz Luhrmann films in his characteristically extravagant style, as he did before in Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge, among others. High tempo, full of music and over-the-top production design. Actor Austin Butler succeeds with flying colours.
