Dardennes' camera shows our society as we do not want to see it.
Two teenagers have fled Africa and ended up in Belgium. The harsh reality of refugee life brings Tori(Pablo Schils) and Lokita(Joely Mbundu) together. Together they try to build a life as brother and sister. A residence permit proves difficult to obtain, leaving them cornered from different sides. Tori and Lokita's survival is a very hard one, invisible to the world around them. But fortunately, they have each other.
As always, the Dardenne brothers worked with inexperienced actors. After all, they are the masters of social realist drama. With great precision, they expose evil systems. The chemistry between Pablo Schils and Joely Mbundu is phenomenal and leaves no one unmoved. At the Cannes Film Festival, this film was awarded the special prize on the occasion of the 75th edition.
