Emperor Without Clothes' is an adult version of Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairy tale, in the spirit of Molière. The latter drew heavily on the commédia dell'arte and presented his audience with archetypes that portrayed the follies of the human race. De Spelersfederatie and De Theatertroep therefore deploy extravagant dresses, wigs, falls, hypocrisy and lies for the sake of it in this sharply comic and satirical costume drama that ignores historical facts.
Emperor, where are your clothes?
Comical and satirical performance about the morality of our times
We live in a time of upheavals, of sharp contrasts and of resistance of the old order to new insights. Emperor without Clothes' wants to show the effect of the stick in the wheel. The small event that eventually leads to the ruling power, which is stuck in its own idea of how things 'should' be, falling from its throne by a seemingly innocent demand from outside.
