On the first floor of the museum, in the beautifully ornamented room with 18th-century tapestries, curator Wyke Sybesma elaborates on the do's and don'ts at the dinner table in Van Gijn's time. What topics of conversation were appropriate? What was on the menu and how did you have to eat it? Special attention is paid to how Christmas was celebrated at the time, which may not be as lavish as you think!
