Product description

The third part of the series 'Verhalen van Dordrecht' tells the story of Dordrecht's city hall. The building has a long and fascinating history. It dates from 1383 and was built as a Flemish hall, a stock exchange for Flemish cloth traders who had emigrated to Dordrecht.

In 1554, the hall was converted into a Stadthuys. Prisoners were housed on the upper floor from 1646 to 1860. In the 19th century, the building acquired its current neo-classical look. Today, the Town Hall is used for weddings and official receptions. The Town Council also still meets there.
