During the Open Monument Days on September 10 and 11, 2022, 70 monuments in Dordrecht will open their doors wide for you. It is the perfect opportunity to take a look at places you would otherwise never or not so quickly visit!
Sustainable city of monuments
This year the national Open Monuments Day theme is "Sustainability." This means that buildings that have been restored sustainably or are (or were) used for a sustainable purpose are the focus.
For inspiration, Dordt Vlogt dropped by Watertoren Buitenlust, bridge keeper Teus and the Thuredrith Aula. Three of the many monuments that are open this weekend!
All weekend long enjoy special artists who have elevated the making of music to an art. Saturday and Sunday are dedicated to musical monuments and Saturday is National Organ Day with lots of organ music in various churches.
Walks of 1.5 hours along Sustainable Monuments on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 September at 12.00, 13.30 and 15.00 hours. Reservations and start at VVV Dordrecht.
To make choosing from the many monuments a little easier, these handy pocket walks have been put together. You can choose from 3 themes: Gablestones, Historic Hospitality, and Reused Bridgehouses.
From the Groothoofd the steam barge Pieter Boele departs every hour between 12.00 and 16.00 hours. A trip of 45 minutes during which the monuments can be admired from the water and the steam engine can be visited.
