Kings Day in Dordrecht is a celebration for everyone! From the Oranjemarkt, Aubade and music in the cozy city center to a spectacular fireworks show as a finale. It promises to be a wonderful orange day again!
King's Day begins as early as April 26
Koningsdag starts already on Wednesday evening, April 26, with a spectacular Koningsconcert on the Statenplein. This year another fantastic orchestra will come to Dordrecht, the Utrecht Student Bigband.
King's Day is the day to look for second-hand gems. Endless wandering during the Oranjemarkt along all the rugs, tables and stalls in search of that one item. The Oranjemarkt is located between the Grotekerksbuurt towards the Visstraat and on the Sarisgang.
The traditional aubade at City Hall is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and will be conducted by Mayor Wouter Kolff. Drum & Bugle corps Jubal, JD's Big Band and the children's choir Kerkuiltjes will treat visitors to old and new Dutch songs.
Many cafes and restaurants are doing a little extra for Koningsdag and in the stores you can score orange items. Downtown Dordrecht is filled with fun and music on Kings Day.
Need to unwind from the music? During the Orange Route you will learn more about the monarchy, kings and stadholders and discover why King Juliana once drank coffee in the museum.
Every neighborhood in Dordrecht has its own program. From flea markets, magic show, decorating bicycles, games, an army camp to music. There is a fun activity for everyone!
The festive King's Day traditionally ends with a bang with the fireworks show at the Drierivierenpunt. This show can be seen perfectly from the Groothoofd and Merwekade!
