This coming weekend during the Open Monument Days , 70 monuments in Dordrecht will open their doors wide for you. This is your chance to take a look at places you would otherwise never or rarely visit! Enjoy music at historic sites, walk or cycle a mapped-out route along the many monuments.

Theme 2024: Heritage of routes, networks and connections

As a city that has always been on the move, Dordrecht showcases its historical and contemporary connections. The program takes you on a journey through time with unique tours, exhibitions and activities. Discover the ancient trade routes and networks that still connect the city today.

Monumental routes

Especially for this edition of Heritage Days, 3 fun (free) routes have been mapped out. Two walking routes: Dordtse Handelroutes and Overbruggen. Furthermore, a bicycle route along monuments outside the city center.

Some of the monuments are so-called Musical Monuments. Here you can enjoy extraordinary artists who have elevated music making to an art.

This coming weekend you can join a guided tour or stroll through the city yourself and take in all the monuments and the stories behind them!

Walk the Dordrecht Trade Routes from the Wine Bridge or the Overbridges along Bridge Keepers' Houses route.

In addition to walking, you can go biking, join a canal cruise and gripe tour or visit the Voorstraat Noord Festival.

Explore Dordrecht by bicycle

For cycling enthusiasts, together with Ronduit Dordrecht, a beautiful route has been put together along monuments outside the city center. Follow the blue arrows.

Join a canal cruise

On Saturday, step aboard ss PIeter Boele and tour the steam engine. Or, on Sunday, sail with Si Barone along Dordrecht's historical highlights.

Guided excursion Biesbosch center

Led by a guide, walk along the Griend Museum Trail to the Stone Shed where a real Griend worker awaits you by a crackling wood fire.

Voorstraat Noord Festival

On Saturday, this cozy festival is all about art and culture. Enjoy street art, workshops, children's activities and live music on various stages.

Live Painting

Be inspired by live painting on Saturday and Sunday on the lawn in the Kloostertuin, in the heart of Dordrecht. Pass a brush and express your own creativity.

VVV Dordrecht at Spuiboulevard 99 is an excellent starting point for exploring the monuments. You can go there for all your questions.

Program and registration

Program with map, the monumental routes and the children's treasure hunt are available from VVV Dordrecht during the weekend. You can also register at VVV for the guided city walks.

Open Monuments app

New this year is the national app Open Monument Day. It allows you to have all the information you need on the go. Create your own favorites and search through the map to experience everything even better.

Parking

The best way to get to the center of Dordrecht is by public transportation or bicycle. Will you still come by car? Then check out the options here.

Open Monument Day Photo Contest

During Open Monumentendag, go out with your camera and take the most beautiful heritage photo. The chairman of the jury is none other than William Rutten (known from Het Perfecte Plaatje, among others). Check the national website for tips, prizes and how to enter the contest.
