Lunch with a fresh, homemade roti sandwich

The arugula, bok choy, bean sprouts, pointed cabbage, and all the other vegetables that Jermain Chin Fung Chun uses come from the weekly market. The oyster mushrooms come from the Dordrecht Growers’ Guild, and he uses them in dishes such as the vegan oyster mushroom roti masala. Everything at Boer’n Bontje is fresh, 100 percent halal, and just a little bit different. The entrepreneur’s Surinamese background and curiosity about the Mediterranean region are reflected in the authentic dishes. The menu features sandwiches and roti, as well as oso preti (home-style dishes) such as brown beans with rice and chicken, bulgur with köfte and eggplant, and rice with pom, vegetables, and chicken. “The flavor profile is international, but most of the ingredients are local,” says Jermain. And with a little luck, Jermain will have his homemade non-alcoholic ginger beer chilled and ready. Cheers!

Fried Eggplant Sandwich with Saffron Lemonade

To give away the secret of Helena 's international cuisine right away: fresh saffron. Apart from the fact that owner Chia Kadir possesses the necessary experience and culinary creativity, this spice from Iran can be found in many dishes and in the lemonade. "Saffron is typical Helena," Chia explains. "Furthermore, we use a lot of fruits and vegetables, all seasonal and fresh for the best and tastiest results. For all our products, we do business with local entrepreneurs." What lunch guests currently find on the menu include a pumpkin salad, rendang sandwich (specialty), a fried eggplant sandwich and, of course, the saffron lemonade. While you're there, ask for Helena. A story to savor.

Hazel Dordrecht Food, Drinks, Coffee, Voorstraat Noord, Downtown Dordrecht, Spring

Sandwiches with Man Met Bril coffee

What can a small lunch spot excel at? The absolute best coffee made with beans from “Man Met Bril,” delicious sandwiches made with bread from Jordy’s Bakery, and homemade treats like white chocolate and pistachio cookies and brownies. These are just a few examples of the delicacies on Hazel’s lunch menu. Except for the bread, everything on the menu is made in-house. Whenever possible, it’s also vegan. Due to the small space, there isn’t much room inside. But when the weather’s nice, it’s great to sit outside on the side at Hazel—enjoying the sun with a homemade sandwich and a freshly brewed flat white. Stop by the historic center on the corner of Voorstaat and Mariënbornstraat in the beautiful, historic building. From Wednesday through Saturday, in addition to lunch, you’re welcome to enjoy the very finest coffee, breakfast, vegan treats, and all your favorite sourdough breads.

Restaurant de Crimp: Food, Drinks, Lunch, Downtown Dordrecht

Delicious seasonal dishes

De Crimp ’s lunch menu reflects the flavors of the season. With its seasonal dishes, there’s something for everyone. “That’s exactly what De Crimp is all about,” says co-owner Nicky van der Toorn. “A dynamic, easily accessible spot in an iconic historic building where everyone feels at home—from tourists to locals.” While the dishes do have a Mediterranean character, the ingredients we use all come from the region. For example, the mushrooms come from the Kwekersgilde, but everything we serve is fresh.” Of course, a delicious lunch calls for a matching drink. Whether it’s a full-bodied red wine or a glass of crisp white wine, the restaurant has everything to suit your (lunch) preferences. Whether you come here for a modern lunch or a classic dinner, a delicious cup of coffee with fresh pastries, or a cozy drink at the Citybar, you’re always welcome!
