From the rich history of Muziekpodium DJS (already 79 years!) something new has been born: the DJS Jazz Orchestra—a brand-new house orchestra that is breathing new life into Dordrecht’s jazz tradition.
Under the inspiring direction of Nils van Haften (Bob Brookmeyer New Art Orchestra, Metropole Orchestra, New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra), the DJS Jazz Orchestra presents a varied program that includes both classic jazz pieces and contemporary compositions, as well as fresh arrangements.
An important part of the orchestra’s mission is collaborating with nationally and internationally renowned guest soloists. On November 15, that guest soloist will be trombonist Ilja Reijngoud.
Ilja Reijngoud is a versatile Dutch jazz trombonist, composer, and arranger. He graduated with honors and holds a Master of Music degree from the United States. Blessed with exceptional musical talent, Ilja has made a significant mark on the Dutch jazz scene. In addition to his virtuoso trombone playing, he is also known for his original compositions and his role as an arranger for various ensembles. This is also the case this time for the DJS Jazz Orchestra.
