The Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet is the winner of both the jury prize and the audience prize at the 2026 Dutch Classical Talent Award. “Exuberant and energetic,” the jury report stated.
“The interesting mix of personalities creates a diverse dynamic, yet the quartet does not compromise on intonation, timing, or technique.”
The quartet describes their adventurous program as “a tribute to seeking, losing, and finding. It celebrates the transition from limitation to abundance, the poetry of the everyday, and art as a means of spiritual disobedience, self-discovery, and the expression of freedom.”
The program centers on Ligeti’s 6 Bagatelles, taken from his piano cycle *Musica Ricercata*. The idea of “ricercare”—to seek anew, to find anew—runs like a common thread through the entire program.
