Dordrecht Culture Night is an annual event during which Dordrecht’s arts and cultural institutions offer a special program to introduce everyone to everything Dordrecht has to offer.
On Saturday, October 10, we’ll be shaking our hips at Muziekpodium DJS with Latin sensation ChaChaChalina.
ChaChaChalina is an exciting new Dutch Latin band led by singer and percussionist Chalina Smit, alongside Venezuelan master percussionist Gerardo Rosales, known for his work with Maite Hontelé and the Cubop City Big Band. Since their formation in late 2019 at the ArtEZ Conservatory, this dynamic group has worked hard to develop their unique style within Latin jazz and salsa.
ChaChaChalina combines its own repertoire with tight Latin jazz, the groovy New York salsa vibe of Ray Barretto, and modern Cuban timba influences from Pedrito Martinez.
Lineup: Chalina Smit – lead vocals & congas, Gerardo Rosales – timbales & backing vocals, Dani Brands – piano & backing vocals, Samuel Ruiz – bass guitar & backing vocals, Yiannis Marinos – trombone & backing vocals.
