Since 1976, Muziekpodium DJS has been located in the heart of Dordrecht’s historic city center. Our city’s most enjoyable and intimate venue hopes to celebrate its 80th anniversary next year at Grotekerksplein 1, a national historic landmark.
You might call it a monument within a monument, were it not for the fact that Muziekpodium DJS (formerly Dordtse Jazz Sociëteit) has continually reinvented itself since its founding. In addition to jazz, audiences have been able to enjoy blues, world music, and related musical styles for years. With respect for musical heritage and tradition, yet always seeking innovation.
On Saturday, September 12, the doors will be open from 12:00 to 17:00 to anyone who would like to visit the building (which underwent extensive renovations in 2024). While enjoying a drink, visitors can experience even more of the venue’s heritage in the form of DJS veteran DJ Jazzy Jan de Lange.
For years, DJ Jazzy Jan has been a staple at Muziekpodium DJS. During live performances, he knows how to read the mood and amp it up with records from his treasure trove of (often hard-to-find) vinyl. During the Dordrecht Monument Days, he’ll have plenty of time to keep the music going for visitors who come to grab a drink, have a chat, or… maybe even dance a little?
Do you have your own special jazz records, bootlegs or other musical vinyl oddities? Bring them and consult with Jan to see if they will fit on the turntable!
Admission is completely free!
