Of course, we haven’t left out the big disco classics. Think of “Relight My Fire” by Dan Hartman, “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps, and “Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel” by Tavares—timeless songs that work on any dance floor. But where we really set ourselves apart is with the many forgotten gems and lesser-played hits from that era.
Think, for example, of Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Shalamar, Phil Fearon & Galaxy, Shakatak, Level 42, along with the best soul, reggae, and funk hits, R&B, and hip-hop from that era. It’s precisely those records that you rarely—if ever—hear at many other parties. In addition, there’s plenty of room for Dutch disco and pop classics by artists such as Spargo, Time Bandits, Chaplin Band, Mai Tai, Massada, and Daniel Sahuleka. We play exclusively from original vinyl singles, because we believe they provide a warm, dynamic sound. And do you have a request? If we have the record with us, we’ll be happy to play it for you,
Tickets: 9 euros online, 10 euros at the door, Ticketlink.
You can park at Weeskinderdijk—it costs €1—but from there it’s just a short walk to Merz. If you’re coming by public transportation, it’s about a 15-minute walk from Dordrecht Central Station, but you can also take a bus that stops near Merz.
We're keeping the price low on purpose, because so many parties these days are just so expensive. For more info, check out this link from MERZ. And tickets for the other Sunday afternoons—November 1 and December 13—are also available at https://merzdordrecht.nl/evenementen/forgettendiscoclassics.
