The first High Tea was held in the early 19th century. Hopefully, J.M.W. Turner was able to attend a few of them during his lifetime. That’s why, on June 7, visitors can book a one-time High Tea, which will take place in the Schoumanzaal of the charming museum restaurant Art & Dining.
Before an authentic British High Tea, featuring delicious savory and sweet treats and English tea, participants can enjoy a classical concert. This concert will be performed by an ensemble from the Orchest-Vereeniging Dordrecht, whose evocative pieces will enhance the atmosphere of Turner’s era and themes.
During the High Tea, a docent from the Dordrechts Museum will give an introduction to the exhibition *Water & Light: Highlights from the Yale Center for British Art*. Before and/or after the High Tea, you can immerse yourself in Turner’s works.
*Large round tables will be used during the event. This means you will be sharing a table with other guests.
