On Saturday, September 5, 2026, Weizigtpark will transform into one big festival grounds for young and old. During the free Krispijn Festijn, visitors of all ages can enjoy music, dance, sports, creative activities, delicious food, and, above all, a great time from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. And after that, there will also be a screening of *Lilo & Stitch* starting at 8:45 p.m.
Music and Dance for Everyone
There will be music on the main stage all afternoon. The event will be hosted by DJ Swingie, who will also provide the musical entertainment. The afternoon begins at 12:00 p.m. with an official opening, followed by a performance by the blues-rock band Time Travellers, featuring local resident Joop Vastenhoud. Starting at 1:15 p.m., the VHA Mass Choir—a collaboration of three choirs from the Vocal Harmony Academy—will take the stage. The spectacular Bob Marley reggae tribute band Nine Miles will perform starting at 2:30 p.m.
Starting at 3:45 p.m., local talents will have their own stage with the ToBe Talentblock, where they can showcase their DJ and rap skills. The festival wraps up at 5:00 p.m. with Urban Heat, which will get the crowd moving with disco and soul.
In addition, there will be a dance stage featuring OKK Dordrecht, O&O Dance Crew, Salsa Rincon, and ToBe. They will be offering demonstrations and workshops for various age groups, ranging from youth dance to salsa, hip-hop, and Afro.
A festival full of activities and discoveries
There’s plenty for kids to do all day long. In the Weizigt gardens, children can explore nature through activities such as a barefoot trail, treasure hunts, a mud kitchen, land art, and sensory activities. For the youngest children, there’s the Play Library, featuring movement, discovery, and free play. At Het Kleurenmonster, Pipoo Daycare and Bloom Behavioral Specialist offer a quiet space with games, storytime, and creative activities. Children ages five and up can build robots with Stäk, felt wool, play traditional Dutch games, help create a massive 12-meter painting, and steer boats in a large water basin provided by the Alblasserdam Model Building Association. Face painting, balloon sculpting, ring toss, and other activities are also on the program.
Being Active
Sports enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy. There’s a 4-on-4 panna soccer tournament with great prizes. Teams can sign up via the Dordt Sport website. In addition, there’s a sports carousel featuring calisthenics, boxing, circus arts, urban soccer, rugby, and sports activities for the youngest children.
Delicious food and drinks
All that playing naturally makes you hungry. There are plenty of affordable snacks and drinks available at the festival. Visitors can enjoy Surinamese, Antillean, Turkish, Dominican, and other international dishes, as well as poffertjes, fries, hot dogs, crêpes, ice cream, and pastries. For coffee and tea, head to Wijkbakkie. There’s also popcorn and cotton candy for the kids. Please note that the bar does not serve alcohol, and drinking alcohol is not permitted.
Even more to experience
The festival grounds feature a variety of booths and organizations. Visitors can learn about local initiatives, creative entrepreneurs, community organizations, and activities for all ages. Dordrecht Social is setting up a full-fledged community center on the festival grounds, offering activities, workshops, and delicious food at an affordable price.
Free movie to wrap things up
If you don’t want to go home after an afternoon full of activities, you can stay for a free outdoor movie in the evening. The live-action version of *Lilo & Stitch* will be shown at 8:45 p.m. Bring your own chair or blanket and enjoy the movie together under the stars. The bar will remain open.
