The High Lady is a replica of a reconnaissance aircraft used during World War II. Students in the All-Around Aircraft Builder program at Da Vinci College will restore the aircraft in collaboration with specialists from GKN Fokker and Alprokon in Barendrecht.
Although the iconic airplane will never fly again, according to Richard Snel, director of Alprokon, there is still plenty of work to be done: “For example, quite a few parts need to be recreated. There are no longer any blueprints for them, so they’ll have to be built entirely from scratch. We’re confident that the students will turn this into something beautiful.”
“This project shows what’s possible when education and the business community join forces,” says Arjan van Es, education manager at ROC Da Vinci College. “The Spitfire isn’t just an airplane. It’s a learning tool steeped in history and craftsmanship.”
During the open house on November 28, visitors can learn more about the project, meet the parties involved, and take a look at the aircraft.
