We are incredibly happy and proud that this season we’ve managed to secure none other than piano legend Rob van Bavel as Muziekpodium DJS’s “artist in residence.” That sounds like a sure thing, but ironically, our Rob will be on tour in Korea in October. Fortunately, he’s found a worthy replacement: his son, Sebastiaan van Bavel.
The concept remains the same. Every fourth Sunday of the month, Van Bavel invites a special musical guest for a surprising and intimate afternoon filled with improvisation and mutual inspiration. Each edition thus takes on its own character with unique combinations of styles—from swinging jazz to tranquil moments with adventurous detours, spontaneous interaction, and, above all, plenty of fun for both performers and listeners.
On Sunday afternoon, October 25, Sebastiaan van Bavel will host singer Paul van Kessel. Van Kessel studied at the Maastricht and Amsterdam Conservatories. After numerous guest appearances, Paul joined The Young Sinatras as lead singer. He has worked with various bands and productions, including New York Round Midnight, Wicked Jazz Sounds, and the Metropole Orchestra. In 2023, Paul released his first solo EP, “High Or Low.”
There are a limited number of seats available; the doors open at 2:30 p.m.
