After years of silence, there’s good news for fans of danceable jazz: The Jazzinvaders are back! The Dutch band led by drummer/producer Phil Martin and saxophonist Rolf Delfos has announced that it will return to the stage in 2026 and look back on two decades of groove, soul, and jazz with a compilation album.
The Jazzinvaders were formed in 2005 after an inspiring session at Amsterdam’s Bimhuis, where Phil Martin blended the distinctive hard bop jazz sound of The Houdini’s with his tight, danceable beats. The result was a fresh, funky, and hip jazz sound that quickly attracted worldwide attention. Their debut album, *Up & Out* (2006), led to successful tours throughout Europe and Japan and established the band’s reputation as one of the most energetic jazz acts in the Netherlands.
After a period during which the members were involved in various projects, the stage is calling them back. In 2026, the band will celebrate not only its 20th anniversary but also the release of a brand-new compilation album: *The Jazzinvaders – Time Travel*. It features a fine selection of challenging, beloved, and perhaps underappreciated tracks from their career, plus at least two previously unreleased pieces featuring Dr. Lonnie Smith and Azymuth. All of this in newly remixed and remastered versions.
Expect danceable grooves, powerful horn sections, and the irresistible vibe that has set The Jazzinvaders apart since their very first performance.
