Our sun has been providing light and heat for billions of years, but even it will not last forever. During this themed evening on July 18, you’ll discover how the sun was formed, how it produces energy, and what will ultimately happen when it runs out of fuel.
We’ll follow the entire life cycle of a star: from its birth in a massive cloud of gas and dust to its final stage of life. How will the Sun change? What does that mean for Earth? And how do the lives and deaths of other stars differ from those of our own Sun?
During a themed evening, we offer a program lasting approximately 1.5 hours. The group begins at 6:00 p.m. with a presentation, after which—if conditions permit—there is an opportunity to look through the telescope. You’ll receive an explanation of what you can see. The group is divided into two smaller groups: while one group uses the telescope, the other group enjoys a planetarium show. Afterward, the groups switch places. The themed evenings are open to children ages 6 and up.
