How does a shared history shape the present? And how does it influence who we are, how we remember, and how we feel connected to one another?
During “Verbonden Verleden” (Connected Past), an event held as part of the Dordrecht-Indies Summer, the focus is on encounters, conversation, and connection. In an open and welcoming setting, visitors engage in conversation with one another about the lasting impact of the colonial and Indies past. Personal stories, memories, and diverse perspectives serve as the starting point for these discussions.
This afternoon provides an opportunity for exchange between different generations and backgrounds. By listening, sharing, and reflecting together, new insights and connections emerge. Topics such as identity, family history, heritage, and the culture of remembrance naturally come up in the process.
Whether you have a personal connection to the Dutch East Indies or Indonesia, are interested in history, or are simply curious about others’ experiences: you’re warmly invited to join us for this special, accessible afternoon.
