On Saturday, November 7, none other than master drummer and composer Yoràn Vroom will be coming to Dordrecht with his band, Group of Friends, for an evening filled with inspired improvisation and captivating rhythms.
Yoràn Vroom grew up surrounded by music and developed a deep love for (West) African and Afro-Caribbean traditions at an early age. These rich influences form the beating heart of his compositions. After years of sharing the stage with international greats such as Snarky Puppy, Ed Motta, Candy Dulfer, and Frank McComb, Vroom has been focusing entirely on his own artistic vision since 2021. This has already resulted in two critically acclaimed albums and a prestigious composition commission from Amsterdam’s BIMHUIS.
With Group of Friends, he has gathered around him a collective of like-minded top musicians who have made their mark both nationally and internationally. Because the band members each bring their own musical specialty to the table and find room for experimentation on the spot, no two concerts are ever the same. They give Vroom’s pieces a completely unique, lively twist. So get ready for a concert that’s as unpredictable as it is irresistible!
Lineup: Yoràn Vroom – drums, Itai Weissman – EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument), Yariv Vroom – percussion, Timothy Banchet – piano/keyboards, Fantison Araby O’Bryan – Mandinka percussion, Nathaniel Klumperbeek – bass.
