Bikes with character: you’ll find them at the Knappe Fiets bike shop. In Arend-Jan van Geldere’s studio, sustainability, design, and character come together in beautiful city bikes. From heirlooms full of memories to vintage finds given a new lease on life, or a brand-new designer bike: Arend-Jan has it all. He can restore vintage bikes to like-new condition.
So if you have a bike that used to belong to your grandparents and you’d rather not get rid of it, Knappe Fiets is the perfect solution! By restoring vintage bikes to like-new condition, Arend-Jan has made a name for himself in Dordrecht. But he’s also known for his new bikes. They come in all sorts of colors—it’s no wonder women call Knappe Fiets’ bikes “candy,” they’re so cheerfully colorful!
Used LEGO pieces: these are widely available at the LEGO store ‘t Blokkie. Many of these pieces are sorted by shape, making it easy to search by color! In addition, at ‘t Blokkie you’ll find many Minifigs—or little figures—from the old days and sometimes from exclusive sets. The selection also includes sets put together by ‘t Blokkie and even brand-new, unopened boxes.
“The great thing is that we might have a missing piece for a customer who’s putting a set back together,” say Gert-Jan Vorst and Sjef Vermeulen. “This way, sets are made complete again.” In addition, many customers come in who build their own creations, known as MOCs, or My Own Creations. They’re looking for usable parts for these projects. Another exciting idea is to have an exhibition space set up by the end of the year, featuring mostly nostalgic sets from the ’80s and ’90s.”
At NummerTen, you step into a world full of creativity and craftsmanship! The handmade accessories that owner Linda de Rooy carries in her store showcase a wide variety of products and materials. Take the bluestell birds made of bluestone, for example—Linda has them custom-made. They’re one of the store’s best-selling items! The handmade ducks and vases made of glass and porcelain are also popular.
“I try to keep prices low so there’s something for every budget. That’s important to me,” says Linda, who has a store cat at NummerTen that attracts a lot of attention and even has its own Instagram account. Linda carries products that you can safely call unique. “I sell items you hardly ever see anywhere else, because I work with some more exclusive suppliers.”
