Back in Action: The Dordrecht Ice Rink

The ice rink is back, and not just anywhere: this winter, it’s located on and over the water near Spuiboulevard. From December 5 through January 4, there will once again be plenty of skating fun in the city center. A winter gathering spot where visitors can enjoy each other’s company, some exercise, and the festive atmosphere. Whether you want to glide quietly around the rink, challenge your friends to a night of disco skating, or compete with coworkers for the curling cup, the Dordrecht Ice Rink guarantees good old-fashioned fun and togetherness. Relax on the winter terrace, overlooking the ice rink. Order a hot chocolate with whipped cream or raise a glass of mulled wine to celebrate winter together. It’s the perfect spot to warm up and soak in the atmosphere. Don’t miss out on any of the winter fun—keep an eye on our social media for fun activities and festive moments!

Santa Run - Lots of fun

When the Dordrecht December Days kick off, it’s also time for another true Dordrecht tradition: the Santa Run! For the twelfth time, hundreds of Santas will run through the city center on a three-kilometer loop on Friday, December 12. The run starts at Stadhuisplein, from where participants in their red Santa suits will run past the Groothoofdspoort, the Kuipershaven, Blauwpoortsplein, and the Grote Kerk. Last year there were 750 participants, and the organizers—the Rotary Club of Dordrecht—are now hoping for 850. There will be live music along the route, making it a festive event not only for the running Santas to participate in, but also for spectators to watch and cheer them on. There’s also a short, accessible route for young children and participants with disabilities. Whichever route is chosen, participants are running for two charities: Quiet Drechtsteden and LETS Ruilwinkel. People with a free Dordt-pas can participate for free.

Royal Winter Circus Event in Dordrecht

Royal Winter Circus - All-New Show

From December 19 through January 4, 2026, Wintercircus Royal will be setting up shop on Laan van Europa in Dordrecht, with an all-new show. Following last year’s huge success, this edition promises to be even bigger, more international, and more exciting. Wintercircus Royal is an experience for young and old alike, featuring performers from no fewer than nine different countries. Wintercircus Royal brings the absolute world’s best to Dordrecht. Among the performers is the flying trapeze act by The Flying Michaels from Brazil. Another award-winning act is that of Duo Badea, who balance together in an intensely spectacular act on a freestanding ladder. Also from Brazil is Anjo Robson with an ultra-spectacular act on the “slackline.” Dutch comedian Sem de Vries will have you laughing. And Diana Boiachin—a recipient of the “Silver Artist” award, among others—will leave you in awe with her life-threatening “aerial hoop act.” The very best circus performers, both on the ground and in the air, come together in a show lasting approximately 2.5 hours.
