Food Design Playground is a place where you learn to look differently at something very ordinary: food. This monumental location in the center of Dordrecht is not about luxury tables or perfectly prepared plates, but about your senses. Here it's all about what food does - with your body, your thoughts, your memories.
Ze organiseren pop-up diners met radicale chefs en ontwerpers. Je kunt bijvoorbeeld een audioproeverij beleven waarbij je geblinddoekt luistert naar een verhaal dat zich in je mond afspeelt. Er zijn tentoonstellingen en installaties over food design, een food-book club ‘eat what you read’, en kindertheater met eetbare workshops.
In addition, this is also the place where you can get started yourself. During retreats and workshops you will learn how to use food as a design material - or as a means to tell a story, design a ritual, and to really touch people.
Er is een bibliotheek vol boeken over food design, eetcultuur, systeem, taal, vormen en filosofie. En een kleine concept shop waar je zintuiglijke cadeaus, bijzondere objecten en eetbare ideeën vindt. Food Design Playground is geen normaal restaurant. Je kunt hier niet zomaar binnenlopen voor een lunch. Ze werken op event-basis — voorstellingen, diners, workshops en andere momenten waarop de deur wijd open staat. En goed om te weten: je hoeft geen ontwerper te zijn om je thuis te voelen. Juist ‘gewone’ mensen met nieuwsgierigheid en een mond zijn hier meer dan welkom. Voor iedereen die genoeg heeft van voedsel als product, en zin heeft in voedsel als proces. Voor dromers, denkers, makers, twijfelaars en fijnproevers. Voor wie het lef heeft om zijn smaakpapillen mee te nemen op onbekend terrein.
