Open House Days in Dordrecht
On September 12 and 13, more than 85 historic sites in Dordrecht will open their doors to the public free of charge.

"Resilient Heritage" Theme
The national theme for Open Monument Days in 2026 is: “Resilient Heritage” (in times of uncertainty). This theme coincides with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Open Monument Day in the Netherlands.
For centuries, historic monuments have offered us protection from external threats. Now they themselves are facing new challenges: from the effects of climate change to a shortage of skilled professionals who can maintain these special places and pass them on to future generations.
Yet monuments demonstrate their power. They symbolize recovery, renewal, and the ability to adapt to changing times.
Out for a walk
This year, the theme “resilient heritage” is the focus of the Open Monument Days. A walking tour has been mapped out that you can follow on your own using the directions provided.
Especially for lovers of history and fresh air, the Dordrecht Hiking Foundation has mapped out kilometer-long routes on Saturdays. A fun scavenger hunt has been organized for children.

Pieter Boele
A 45-minute boat tour aboard the Pieter Boele. During the tour, you can view the steam engine, and the enthusiastic volunteers are happy to tell you about this unique former Rhine steam tug. Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (every hour on the hour). Tickets are available on board. Location: Groothoofd.
Si Barone
Hop aboard one of Si Barone’s classic boats and cruise past the city’s historic highlights. Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Register and purchase tickets on the Si Barone website. Location: Voorstraat 237.
