Travel for free on the ferry

During the renovation, the bike paths on the Papendrechtsebrug and Baanhoekbrug will be closed. A ferry (the Papendrecht ferry service) will operate next to the Papendrechtsebrug, allowing travelers to cross to the other side for free within 5 minutes, even at night.

In addition to pedestrians and bicycles, mopeds, scooters, and microcars are also allowed on this route. Motorcycles and agricultural vehicles are not permitted.

A second ferry operates between Rosmolenweg in Papendrecht and Kerkeplaat in Dordrecht (Rosmolenweg Ferry Service). This ferry takes cyclists, mopeds, and scooters to the other side in 10 minutes. There is plenty of room for cyclists who currently ride across the Papendrechtsebrug and the Baanhoekbrug, as well as for commuters who leave their cars behind and hop on a bicycle or moped, even during rush hour.

From the bus stop, it's an easy bike ride to downtown. Pedestrians can also take the regular bus service. Check the trip planner for more information.

Papendrecht-
Ferry Service The ferry between Kerkeplaat (Dordrecht) and Huys de Merwede/Visschersbuurt (Papendrecht) operates day and night. There are more departures during rush hour. The exact departure times will be announced later.

Number of departures from Monday through Friday:

  • From 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.: 6 departures per hour (every ten minutes)
  • From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: 4 departures per hour (every 15 minutes)
  • From 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.: 6 departures per hour (every ten minutes)
  • From 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.: 4 departures per hour (every 15 minutes)
  • From 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.: 2 departures per hour (every half hour)

Number of departures on Saturdays, Sundays, and official holidays

  • From 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.: 3 departures per hour (every twenty minutes)
  • From 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.: 2 departures per hour (every half hour)
