Blowbeat, formed in the early ’80s, has built an impressive live reputation, especially in Germany. In the OOR encyclopedia, the band was praised for its “high level of musical skill combined with rock-solid song material”—and there’s little to argue with that.
After 2000, Blowbeat performed less frequently as the band members pursued successful careers as session musicians. Leendert Haaksma, Arthur Lijten, and Eric Coenen are well-known names in the music world, having collaborated with artists such as Anouk, Anastacia, Manfred Mann, and Ellen ten Damme. This made it difficult to keep Blowbeat active on a continuous basis.
But… blood is thicker than water. Every year, the band members see if there’s room for a new tour. And luckily, there is one coming up in September. The core remains the same: real musicians, real guitars, a bass, and a drum set. No frills, just pure, raw music full of power and creativity.
