Meet & Greet with
From September 5 through October 25, 2026, WG Galerie will present the solo exhibition *Sweet Memories* by artist Yvonne Melchers (Alkmaar). On Saturday, September 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., there will be a Meet & Greet, where visitors can meet the artist in person and learn more about her work, inspiration, and remarkable life story.
Melchers paints realistic and figurative works in oil, in which light, color, atmosphere, and memory play an important role. She draws inspiration from both the Dutch North Sea coast, with its cool and clear light, and the warmth of Italian life. These fascinations gave rise to series such as*The North Sea*,*Italian Scenes*,*Siena Palio Portraits*, and*Rooms with a View*.
With a fresh and vibrant use of color and a limited palette, inspired by Claude Monet, Melchers captures moments and atmospheres in a unique way. She takes all the reference photos she uses for her paintings herself.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in countries including the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and the United States, and has appeared in various art publications. Melchers has been selected multiple times as a finalist or semifinalist for renowned international art competitions, including the BP Portrait Award in London, Figurativas in Barcelona, and the ARC Salon in the U.S. Her work is held in private collections worldwide and in the collections of, among others, the AMC Amsterdam and Museum Møhlmann. She is also part of the unique Lunar Codex Project, in which a selection of her works was launched to the moon.
