Zero-Waste HAND Sewing Class

Sun, Sept. 27, 2026
13:30 - 15:30

Have you always wanted to alter and repair your own clothes? You can! And without a sewing machine. Learn a new sustainable skill from Sofie of Suusstainable on Sunday, September 27.

Reuse or repair—don't throw it away!

Do you also have a closet full of clothes that you *would* wear… if those pants were a little shorter, or those sleeves a little longer? Maybe you haven’t even worn your favorite shirt in a while because of that little hole in the front. Around 1900—back in the days of Simon & Cornelia van Gijn—it was perfectly normal to darn a hole by hand or sew a hem.

Practical information:

It’s going to be a fun afternoon where you’ll be welcomed in the museum’s education room. During this two-hour workshop, Sofie from Suusstainable will teach you two basic stitches and a darning technique. By the end, you’ll be ready to tackle your own wardrobe with needle and thread—and full of confidence. Materials, coffee/tea, and a little something sweet are included.
