The Mint of Holland

De Munt is located in the old city center of Dordrecht, in the creative-cultural area Voorstraat-Noord where many creative entrepreneurs have now established themselves. In recent years, this historic part of Dordrecht has been characterized as the vibrant heart of the city. Cultural breeding place DOOR has established itself in this special building. From 1367 to 1806, De Munt was the place where, by order of Emperor Charles V, the coins of the province of Holland were minted according to exclusive law. After later serving as a wine warehouse and clothing warehouse, the building has functioned as a music school for the past century and a half. In the 1970s, De Munt underwent a major restoration.
