The gins and genevers of Distilleerderij Rutte on the Vriesestraat are still made the same way as founder Simon Rutte did in 1872, from the small back room in our distillery in Dordrecht: with love and by hand. In other words: the traditional way, with the best ingredients. Simon was able to distill exotic spices and fruits because sailing ships brought these special ingredients into the ports of Dordrecht. His spirits quickly became popular so he decided to expand his family's front café into a liquor store. Today, the Rutte store can also be found here.
The products of Distilleerderij Rutte are for sale in the store, which is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The historic building in the old town of Dordrecht is entirely in its original condition. Above the distillery, in the old living room of the Rutte family, there is now an attractive tasting room where the distillery receives its guests for a tasting or a workshop. Here the gins and genevers can be experienced for themselves. Those interested can also visit Distillery Rutte for a mini tasting on Saturdays at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
