Grote Kerk Dordrecht

The medieval Grote or Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk in Dordrecht is a building with a rich history dating back to the11th century. Not only the imposing architecture of the church’s exterior, but also the monuments, chapels, and choir stalls inside make it Dordrecht’s most important landmark. The church’s interior is definitely worth a visit.
A striking feature is the leaning tower, which, according to the original design, was supposed to be 108 meters tall with a spire. During construction, the tower began to lean, causing the master builder to halt work at 65 meters, resulting in the tower being left without a spire.
Are you up for the challenge? Climbing the 65-meter-tall tower with 275 steps? The tower has irregular opening hours. Check the Grote Kerk website for detailed visitor information.
