Stadsbrouwerij Dordrecht is not just any brewery. In this professional microbrewery, beer is brewed in a very traditional way by volunteers and trainees, mainly from the MBO. The city brewery is an educational training company and is proud of the apprenticeships and the guidance it offers to students.

In Stadsbrouwerij Dordrecht, every beer is brewed with special attention. We brew four types of Schapenkopje: Blond, Amber, Double and Triepel. Our beer is for sale in various off-licences and supermarkets and in several pubs and restaurants in Dordrecht and the region.

The brewery is open every Saturday for a guided tour with a tasting (at 3:00 p.m.). The cost is €12.50 per person. Advance registration is not required but is recommended due to limited space. Monument: The City Brewery/Het Schapenkopje
In 1968, the Netherlands’ oldest brewery, the Dordrecht brewery “De Sleutel,” ceased operations. Beer had been brewed here since the early sixteenth century, on a site that stretched from the Groenmarkt (behind the Renaissance building De Sleutel) to the Varkenmarkt (gateway with keys). A large portion of the buildings in the inner area was demolished, but the building that originally served as the malt house and was later used as a storage cellar was preserved. During the restoration, the old exterior facade with arched window openings was restored. The upper floors house apartments, while the Stadsbrouwerij is located on the ground floor. Today, it houses the Stadsbrouwerij Dordrecht training center. The traditionally brewed light beer with which master brewer Marres—one of the founders—earned the title of Dutch Champion Brewer is now marketed by the Stadsbrouwerij under the Dordrecht name “Schapenkopje Amber.”
