During the Easter weekend, on Saturday, April 4, children can hunt for eggs laid by Sijtje, the famous Dordrecht duck, in the museum’s garden. Sijtje laid as many as a hundred eggs a year, which was so remarkable that Aelbert Cuyp painted a portrait of her.
How does it work?
Reserve your ticket in advance to ensure a spot.
Bring your own basket or bag and join in the hunt for the (candy) eggs.
For €2.50, a child can collect 10 Easter eggs.
The egg hunt starts at 11:30 a.m. Cleanup begins at 12:30 p.m.
Tips for after the egg hunt
Admission to the museum is free for children. Adults with a Dordtpas, Museum Card, Vriendenloterij VIP Card, or Vereniging Rembrandt Pass also get in for free. With a CJP/CKV card, you can enter the museum for just €6.
Visit the interactive family exhibition *Ik zie, ik zie* and step into a world full of color, wonder, and art! Until 3:30 p.m., you’ll find visitor guides from Take pART, the youth department of the Dordrechts Museum. Let them help you find your way through the exhibition.
Or take the “Vreemde Vogel” family tour together. For €3.50 per child, you can purchase a collection folder at the ticket counter and set off on a journey of discovery through the permanent collection. Find all the feathers, complete fun activities, and finish your “Vreemde Vogel” at home.
To continue this fun tradition and use sustainable Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate, we’re asking for a contribution of €2.50 per child this year. This will allow us to continue organizing the event.
