  • Original function: Roman Catholic Church of St. Boniface

The Roman Catholic Boniface Church from 1822-1826 is a typical Dutch Watergate church and a so-called hall church. The church has wooden barrel vaults and three naves. There is a wooden bell tower on the façade. In 1842 the Kam & Van der Meulen organ was built by the organ builders Willem Hendrik Kam (1806-1863) and Hendrik van der Meulen (1810-1852). The stops contain eighteenth-century pipework, probably by the well-known organ maker Hendrik Hermanus Hess (1735-1794). The church became vacant in 1974 and shortly afterwards (1979) housed Poppodium Bibelot. The church interior was adapted to accommodate Bibelot. The Kam & Van der Meulen organ was dismantled. Yet the church space has remained recognisable. Bibelot moved in early 2013 to the Energiehuis 21 on the Noordendijk. After that, the Bonfire Foundation moved into the former church and turned it into a meeting place for Christian youth.
