Eight kilometers of archival material. This is what makes up the wide and diverse collection of Regionaal Archief Dordrecht. Besides printed material such as all Dordrecht newspapers and an extensive library, there are hundreds of meters of handwritten documents on paper and parchment, the oldest piece dating back to 1200. Regionaal Archief Dordrecht is the repository for records from Dordrecht and thirteen surrounding municipalities. The archives are very diverse: from governmental archives to archives of individuals and families, companies, schools, churches, sports associations and water boards. The records are kept in the City Depot on Dordtse Kil III. Almost all sources are public and can be viewed by anyone online or on request at the visiting location, the reading room in Hof 6. This location is also open every first Saturday of the month.
