Scheffersplein is one of the squares in the center of Dordrecht. Around the square there are various catering establishments from restaurants to cafes. In the summer months, the square is taken up by various terraces. The square is named after Ary Scheffer, a Dordrecht painter from the 19th century. The statue of Ary Scheffer in the middle of Scheffersplein was unveiled in 1862.
