- Year built: 1928
- Original function: Screw dock
This screw dock dating from 1928 is a national monument and a landmark on the Wolwevershaven. It belonged to the Machinefabriek L. Straatman Ketelmakerij that was located at the Kuipershaven from 1902 till 1996. The dock was used to lift ships partly out of the water so that from floating, wooden decks the ship's rudders and propellers could be repaired or replaced. It originally had a lifting capacity of 30 tonnes, but in 1952 its capacity was increased by ten tonnes. The hoist is a rare example of an early twentieth-century facility for ship repair in an inland port. The detailed design and the application of materials contribute to the building's historical value. The dock is owned by the Screw Dock Foundation and used by the company Jooren Scheepsschroeven for the repair of (ship) propellers, making it a living monument. The former factory building is now part of an apartment complex.
