Masonic lodge La Flamboyante. The original purpose of the building was the Mint of Holland, which was located there until 1806. The coins for the county and region of Holland were minted here. After the move to Utrecht, the building stood empty for a number of years, until part of it was purchased by shipbuilder Jan Schouten in 1836. In 1837, he converted it into a Masonic lodge, making De Munt the oldest lodge building in the Netherlands still in use. The building can be reached via the Muntpoortje or the Doelstraat. Above the entrance in Doelstraat, there is a gable stone with the symbols of the Freemasons. The interior of the temple consecrated at the time has remained virtually unchanged. The Freemasons realise their ideals and thoughts by performing ceremonial actions in an open lodge.
