This summer is full of novelties. L'Archiviste has a new indoor garden, there are new Dordrecht wines from Wijndomein Biesbosch and, since this year, the Oogstpark has a partnership with Stadslandbouwkas De Oude Beer.
New collaboration, new wine and new indoor garden!
At the French restaurant L'Archiviste, it was already thoroughly enjoyable, but with a completely revamped tucked-away courtyard garden only gets more so. There was already a courtyard garden, but over the years it had become quite overgrown, to say the least. A Dordrecht horticulturist has created a completely new courtyard garden, entirely in French style. Covered by a pergola with vines and fig trees. Feel like playing a game of petanque? You can, L'Archiviste has had a bocce court built. Owners Romeck Gorree and Ricardo Ruwé are very happy with the new indoor garden at their restaurant. "Great that we can now offer our guests this place. We have enough space there, as we can accommodate sixty guests in the garden. We have also already planned a number of weddings and parties there, so it's ideal that we can now go outside in a nice way." During the summer months, L'Archiviste collaborates with live musicians such as a pianist and there are also regular burlesque nights, so be sure to stop by!
Did you know that in the Dordtse Biesbosch there is a real wine domain? Wijndomein Biesbosch, that is! Not far from the ferry to Werkendam, planting began in 2020 and by now there is a series of tasty wines. White wine, red wine, rosé: there is something for everyone, says Helma Verkerk of Wijndomein Biesbosch, where in the fall picking weekends are held for which you can sign up. "Wine is of course very personal, but the nice thing about our new Dordt wines is that they are soft and rich in taste. Because of the clay soil in our vineyard, you get a very individual taste." Helma notices that restaurants buy the wine, in and outside Dordrecht and also as business gifts at companies, the wines from Wijndomein Biesbosch are doing well. "The Dordtenaar is really a fan of our wines! They enjoy buying a wine from their own area, for their own use or as a gift." The wines are available at VVV Dordrecht at Spuiboulevard 99, among other places.
On March 1, urban agriculture greenhouse the Old Bear moved into the green Harvest Park with associated fields, plots and a spacious horticultural greenhouse. An enthusiastic group of volunteers work on ecological horticulture. Care to help sow, harvest or garden? There is always something fun to do! Because the site has expanded considerably, it got a new name: City Agricultural Park the Old Bear. In the middle of the park you will find the cozy catering spot the Harvest Park - run by volunteers - where you can enjoy fresh herbal tea, good coffee, cake and a delicious lunch. Much comes straight from the greenhouse, super fresh and packed with flavor! You'll discover produce you won't find in the supermarket. The restaurant is open on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the greenhouse on Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then there is also a plant market. Soon you'll even be able to buy fresh vegetables. Stop by as a visitor, volunteer or intern!
