This booklet is mainly about one of the houses of the Lords of the Merwede, the House of Merwede in Dordrecht. For almost 600 years, the House has stood as an abandoned ruin on the Merwede. The author tells about the Lords of Merwede and the history of the House.

In the course of the 20th century, the foundations of the house were excavated and with them part of the moat. During this work, a large number of special finds were made. In 2010, the ruins were further refurbished.
