Product description

Not everything that is no longer visible has disappeared... This certainly applies to what happened in our town in the distant past. Both the remains of the houses and of the rubbish that the inhabitants left behind are well preserved in the soil. Due to the clayey, wet soil, these remains hardly decompose and therefore reappear after hundreds of years, sometimes as new.

In this story of Dordrecht, the rise, development and eventual demise of part of the medieval city quarter between Kromme Elleboog and Kolfstraat, now Statenplein, is told. The content is based on data from archaeological excavations carried out in 1997, 1998 and 2000.
