Product description

This booklet explores the contribution that Dordt Italians have made to the city over the centuries. From a medieval credit bank and an eighteenth-century family coat of arms in the Grote Kerk, via chimney sweepers, terrazzo workers and ice cream makers, a famous Art Nouveau architect and many guest workers to today's Italian community, which is larger than just the well-known pizza bakers.

The arrival of Italians is the initial impetus for what later became known as the multicultural society. Often, the Italian migrants are prominent citizens of Dordrecht, who know how to bring colour to the island of Dordrecht.
