A comforting search for meaning, with music and compelling stories
In 2024, clay artist Ayoub Kharkhach won the jury and audience award of the Amsterdam Kleinkunstfestival. Soon after, he became a volunteer at a shelter for hedgehogs. He also once sang in a gospel pop choir.
In his first full-length performance, Ayoub tries to make sense of everything he has experienced so far. Why do swallows build their nests in the mosque? What does a hedgehog have to do with FEBO walls? And can he trust that his mother has the answers?
With music as the common thread, Ayoub takes you on a comforting quest for meaning. And forbid the birds to sing is a performance full of compelling stories about food, illness and the special bond with his mother.
