Young dancers and choreographers show the future of ballet in "Ballet Beats" with three world premieres and a brilliant classic. A sparkling program full of energy.

The power and diversity of the future in scintillating dance program

It's not just the young, scintillating dance talents that have made the Dutch National Ballet's Junior Company such a success; the young choreographers the group manages to attract also create excitement. With three world premieres, "Ballet Beats" shows the beating heart of the ballet of the future, complemented by a vibrant, brilliant classic.

Dutch Joshua Junker developed from breakdancer at Boys Action to ballet dancer at the British Royal Ballet. There he also created his first choreographies. He also incorporates hip-hop influences in his new creation.

Cuban-British Arielle Smith Jones is only 25, but already has a prestigious Olivier Award to her name. Originally from the modern dance circuit, she often mixes dance, theater and film in her idiosyncratic creations. She is making her Dutch debut with a new work. With a background in both African dance and ballet, South African Mthuthuzeli November is considered a striking new "voice" within the international ballet world.

The fourth work in "Ballet Beats" is "Allegro Brillante," one of the most vibrant and lighthearted works by George Balanchine, the most important (neo)classical choreographer of the 20th century.
