Drama, madness and desire in Berlioz's masterpieces. The NBE transforms his compositions to wind instruments, starring a singer.

Drama, longing and tragedy in a wind ensemble full of power

The Netherlands Wind Ensemble yearns, whispers, cries and moves with Berlioz's Powerful Women. In this expressive performance, the Blazers follow in the footsteps of eccentric composer Hector Berlioz.

The revolutionary Symphonie Fantastique revolves around a strong but unattainable woman in a hallucinatory tale full of obsession, madness, jealousy and murder. In La Mort de Cléopâtre, Cleopatra - charismatic and fearless - chooses death over imprisonment, thus taking control of her own destiny.

These masterfully instrumented compositions have been transformed especially for the NBE into a spectacular wind ensemble. A powerful singer adds an extra feminine charge to this performance, which is full of expression and emotion.
