Jouk Oosterhof captures portraits in houses of strangers, often found on Funda. She does not look for "beautifully styled" interiors, but for places with a hidden history, hidden in worn furniture and faded curtains. In a letter, she addresses the owners, "Dear owner of this house ... perhaps a strange request, but may I spend a day photographing in your home?"
The common thread in her photographs is not only what is visible, but also the process leading up to it'the search for the right ingredients, bringing together the personal stories of her models with the mystery of the interiors found.
This exhibition is organized in collaboration with WG Gallery for Contemporary Portraiture and Realism.
Meet the photographer behind the works on display? You can do so on Sunday, June 1, during the Duo Meet & Greet: at 3 p.m. at WG Gallery and at 4 p.m. at Branderhorst.
