Indie Vibes: From Melodic Pop to Raw Rock Sound
BARRU (be)
Groovy, intriguing songs full of melancholy and longing in an intimate but equally compelling atmosphere. That's BARRU. The indie duo of singer-songwriter Bart Van Leuven and producer Xavier De Clercq formed somewhere between Antwerp and Ghent and melted together further at Ghent's Poolside Studio. It was from there that the two fired their debut album, "Awake, But Dreaming," at you in the fall of 2025. Bart's soulful voice, filled with emotion provides color and warmth during those first dark days. But first, get ready for the first single: "How Do We Get High Now?" immediately showcases every aspect of their vibrant mix. Feel free to put on repeat.
The Shells
an indie rock trio from Zwolle, Netherlands, is known for their raw energy and introspective lyrics, reminiscent of a mix of Elliott Smith and Supergrass. Following their authentic debut album in 2024, the band is now working on a concept album to be released in 2025/2026. For this project, frontman Milo Groenhuijzen retreated to a converted bread oven in Normandy, where he wrote and partially recorded the album. The raw recordings from this French shelter are combined with drum and bass recordings from a Dutch studio, resulting in a unique sound.
