Big Dave & the Dutchmen is a new top blues band formed in 2023. Big Dave Reniers (known from Electric Kings, Dizzy Dave Band) is a master on the harmonica and a charismatic singer and front man. He takes you into the nostalgic sounds of blues from the 50s and 60s. What really sets this band apart is their ability to perform blues songs with feeling and respect for the origins, without simply copying them.
The line-up further consists of known 'cracks' in the genre: Roel Spanjers (Luther Allison, Smokey Wilson), piano and vocals, Mischa den Haring (T-99, Chung Kings) on guitars and vocals, complemented by the two Dordt brothers Darryl Ciggaar (Dry Riverbed Trio, Ian Siegal) on drums and vocals and Dusty Ciggaar (Ian Siegal, The Rhythm Chiefs), bass guitar and vocals. Each band member contributes to the band's unique sound: soulful harmonica, "Down Home" blues piano, expressive guitar work, backed by a very unctuous rhythm section.
This band echoes the raucous, smoky clubs of early Chicago blues, where whiskey flowed copiously and the day did not end until the sun rose again.
